 Dear girls,
Greetings from the Happiest Place in the World, Bhutan!

I am on a solo trip to Bhutan this June. Bhutan is a beautiful place with rich culture and traditions. My solo trip has also given me the space to reflect on the journey we had taken together.

We have covered quite a lot of ground in the previous semester and I'm proud to see the progress that you have made in the 6 months we have been together.

I especially enjoy the times we spend together during recess, just to have a little chat about your lives and to just spend whatever little we have together to get to know each other.

For the P5s, well... we still have quite a lot of progress to make. However, I believe that with determination and hard work, we will be able to emerge victorious at the end of the next semester. I love your genuine smiles, your hugs, your enthusiasm for learning and look forward to spending the next semester with you charting new ground.

For the P6s, I'm extremely proud of the progress you have made at end of this semester. We are left with just one term before D-DAY! So press on! Don't give up! We will all emerge victorious on PSLE day. I have full faith in you.

The performance of the girls involved in Olivia, the Musical also brought me great joy. Andrea, En Yu and Anna, together with many of the girls in Dance Inc, had put in months of sheer hard work to put up the wondrous performance in May. It was heartening to see the progress they have made as actors and individuals through the training process. Kudos to you girls for being able to juggle between school work and practices and doing such an excellent job in the process.

The road ahead might be arduous and filled with challenges. However, we will be strong and not falter. We can do it! Never, never, never give up!

I look forward to seeing your beautiful and cheery faces in school in Term 3.

Signing off,
Captain Meowjoria

Cupcakes Treat from Charmaine's Mother

Thank you, Mrs.Zhu for the Cupcakes treat! Happy birthday, dear Charmaine.

Stimulus-Based Conversation Training

Stimulus-Based Conversation is one of the most challenging components in the PSLE examination. The girls are required to apply the following skills in the component: Justification, Making Connections, Elaboration and Counterarguments.

The girls will be asked three different types of questions in the oral examinations:

1) Decision Making Questions: Pupils are required to make a decision and justify their decision fully.

2) Experience Questions: Pupils are required to fully elaborate on their experience using five wives and one husband. Pupils are also encouraged to make suggestions and talk about what they have learnt from the experience.

What
Who
Why
When
Whose
How

3) Opinion-Making Questions: Pupils are required to provide answers to a social issue. For instance, they could be asked if it is important to learn how to cook/drive or to list characteristics of a good school.

To help the children deal with the answering of the questions in this component, I have introduced the model TREES to help them to fully elaborate on their ideas.

To help them to excel in this component, I have arranged for ORAL POWER CLINIC SESSIONS to be held during recess for the children to receive one-to-one instruction and feedback on their oral skills.

Children can also meet me before morning assembly for their one-to-one feedback session on Mon-Tues, Thurs and Fri. I will be having morning remedial sessions on Wed.

We will also be having additional practices in class to ensure readiness for the upcoming examinations. :)
